British Vogue’s gypset shout out. “The Global Style Hunters” featuring world samplers; NYC’s Suno, Los Angeles’ Cobra Society and Morocco’s En Shalla…:
“An expanding network of fashion entrepreneurs– from as far afield as Marrakesh, Los Angeles, Laos–who tired of conformist jobs and tastes, are creating a 2011 version of bohemian style with an ethical e-commerce twist. [...]

Just back from Cornwall on England’s south west coast. I met the most gypset couple ever: Cathy and Perry St. Germans. they live in a sprawling ancestral estate called Port Elliot and in the summers host a decadent festival with poets and fashion designers.

  • TRASIERRA, SPAIN

    | OUTPOSTS | Julia

Trasierra is a hotel in an old 16th century estate in the Sierra Morena Mountains north of Seville.
It’s owned/run by Brit gypsetter Charlotte Scott and her family. The decor and vibe is pure gypset with bedrooms carved out of thick Andalusian stone, claw foot bathtubs, and lots of guitars.

  • BARJAC, FRANCE

    | OUTPOSTS | Julia

Barjac, a town in the country side in southern France, is where artist Anselm Kiefer spent years transforming a derelict silk factory into a strange visual utopia.
he built the whole place up as an installation with strange wobbly towers and other ruins resembling a lost civilization. Large scale earth art that recalls Watts Towers,  James [...]

  • IBIZA, SPAIN

    | ENCLAVES | Julia

We love the north of Ibiza, away from all the noise and traffic. My favorite town is Sant Joan, surrounded by pine forests, palms, and vintage Euro hippies.
There’s very few places to stay in that part of the island, save for a teepee squat or maybe someone’s house. but this summer a new hotel opened [...]
